Dear Friends,

The flowers are blooming, and the school year has already ended at USC. The graduating students are now just eagerly waiting for their graduation celebrations.

I look forward to my usual summer fare of teaching and performances in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Having said that, the terrible ongoing and new problems and events in so many parts of the world have put a damper on my usual enthusiasm. The very act of traveling has become more complicated and time-consuming. More importantly, I fear the consequences of, and repercussions from, various events and I bemoan the fact that so many people are content to be bystanders.

I can only wish and hope that our music making can serve as an antidote to the negativity and insecurity around us, and inspire the world as well as its policy makers.
