The Columbus Dispatch, 22 September 2006 By BARBARA ZUCK As soloist in the glorious Beethoven Violin Concerto, a work so sublime one sometimes marvels that a mere mortal composed it, Midori also gave listeners much to think about. The former child prodigy, now 34, is an artist whose instrument seems an extension of her being, perhaps her very soul. Her focus is continually on the violin, save when she uses it to partner with an orchestral soloist, as she did in winning fashion last night in the concerto's slow movement. |
