Shimbun, 5 December, 2005 Letter from a reader ...The concert at the Aubade Hall last week with the Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, conducted by Mariss Jansons, and Midori was the first classical concert I had attended in a while.... The performance [of Siblelius's Violin Concerto]... was wonderful, just as I had expected. The cadenza in the first movement was fantastic, the second movement was free, and the last movement was powerful and highly virtuosic. After the concert, Midori came to the lobby to give autographs and shake hands with members of the audience, and I queued up to have my concert program signed and shook hands with her. I was amazed to find that such wonderful music came from such a tiny a person with small hands. |
