Midori gives display of virtuosity at Mt. Gretna
By ELIZABETH PATTON

Powerful lyricism filled the air on a pleasant Sunday evening as [Midori and Charles Abramovic] gave a recital of romantic works to a sold-out, packed-to-the-edges Mount Gretna Playhouse.

The concert opened with a beguiling performance of Johannes Brahms' Sonata No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100. The performance [brought] to life the work's melancholy, thoughtful outer movements [.] and the light-hearted folk dances of its central movement. [.] Midori and Abramovic delivered an intense performance of [Ernest Bloch's Sonata No. 2], with its moments of peace, earthy intensity and spiritual unworldliness. ... [In Schumann's Phantasiestucke, Op. 73, Midori captured] every quicksilver mood and captivating melody of the composer. [.]

Midori's performance was brilliant, sparkling like a diamond in the woodsy darkness of Mount Gretna.
