Midori's playing on [Bach's] Second Sonata for Violin (BWV 1003) was sensitive and probing. She is superb at spinning endlessly evolving, gracefully arching lines, and technically immaculate in clarifying contrapuntal textures... Midori and McDonald, who have played together for years, share an easy stage presence. ... Their work was seamless. ... Intriguing and light, [Rautavvara's Dithyrambos] was made to feel effortless . ... Szymanowski's Notturno e Tarantella for violin and piano closed the program, the first part offering shimmering textures, the second a kind of bravura romp to the finish.
