The Salt Lake Tribune, March 8, 2003 Midori Both Formidable, Reflective Midori showed off her formidable technique, with some of the most dazzling articulation around. More importantly, she truly made her instrument speak in a tremendously involving performance of this seldom-heard concerto. From the throaty low notes to the silky-smooth highs, this came across as a deeply felt performance. As exciting as Midori made the virtuoso passages of the concerto's outer movements, it was in the reflective moments that she most impressed. Her pianissimos were simply exquisite. |
