Joining Hands

By CHESTER LANE

Midori is at least as passionate about education, collaboration, and community engagement as she is about her solo career. ... She may be a celebrated international concert artist, but she's no less comfortable chatting with fourth-graders in the lunchroom of an inner-city school, or playing one of her Partners in Performance recitals in a remote Midwestern community, or seated behind a teenager in the anonymous ranks of a gigantic string orchestra, than she is under the footlights at Berlin's Philharmonie.
